Working in an
art gallery as a custom picture framer, I found myself
wanting
time to create my own art instead. I left glass cutters and
frames behind
me, and now spend my days surrounded with beautiful
fabric, buttons,
ribbons and clay.
I have
always been interested in fine arts, starting out with drawing
and
painting
at an early age. In the last five years, I have discovered
my
passions
lay with fabric and clay. I have developed a style of
surface
design
that I use with both pottery and quilted items. I like to
combine
beautiful
patterns from nature and home life with unique functional
items such as
bags and bowls. I am a self-taught quilter, creating all
my
own designs and
patterns. I am inspired by new fabric, buttons,
Japanese
craft
books and the internet craft community.
When
I am not creating, I am spending time with my little girl and
supportive husband. I sell my work internationally from my
home-based studio in Burnaby, BC Canada via my online shop.
